About this selection: The tenors in this section are divided into - and by no means meant as historically correct or factual divisions: ‹a› Historical Tenors, meaning all the tenors from the 15th century to the 1st half of the 19th century, including castrati; ‹b› Pre-Caruso tenors (1850-1900), ‹c› Post-Caruso tenors (1900-1930) and finally, ‹d› 20th Century tenors. There are furthermore two subsections: one section on new and promisisng tenors and one section on tenors or singers that did not have an operatic career, but nonetheless had impressive instruments.
