Description and aim

  Grandi Tenori.com is an "E-Library" with biographies and articles on tenors, historical and contemporary, extended with rich analysis of renditions of arias, news on promising tenors and debates on tenors vocal qualities, stage presence and interpretation. The site also includes monthly reviews on opera on stage, on CD or on DVD, spectacular photos and featured singers of exceptional stature.

Grandi Tenori.com is also a meeting place for opera lovers, be it mere aficionados or singers, professional as well as young and aspiring. One of the aims with the site is precisely to put aficinados of vocal art together, and if possible, promote young singers and artists who otherwise lack projection.

Grandi Tenori.com is a non-profit, private and personal intiative and is offered free of use to its readers and members.

    Intellectual Rights and Disclaimers:

Text
  Please respect the artwork of my columnists and do not reproduce any material unless you have obtained permission to do so. If you quote any of the articles or biographies, I would appreciate being notified of its use as a gesture of solidarity.

Photos
  All photos used on the site have been manipulated and colourized and is as such the artwork of Grandi Tenori.com. Your are, however, free to use these photos, but if you do, I appreciate that you quote the source, which I always do at Grandi Tenori.com. I also take measures to find out from who the photos in use originate. Some photos used may be copyrighted, however as a lot of photos are received by email from readers, it is often difficult to check their origin.

Infringement
  It is not my intention to infringe on any copyrighted material, I present information for personal use. Grandi tenori.com is a personal site with idealistic objectives and I receive no benefits from what I or anyone else do. Should anyone feel his/her copyrights are violated, please inform the me, the editor.

Audio files
  I have chosen to include audio files in formats mp3, Windows Audio Media (.wma) and Real Audio (.ra) as a part of the comprehensive articles and to further illustrate points made in the texts. Bitrates are low and availability is limted to one month. See more under "Copyright disclaimer."

Fair Use
  All files, be it graphics, photos, text or audio files, are displayed on Grandi Tenori.com according to what is considered fair use.

When fair use is made of copyrighted material without obtaining permission, the issue is: what is "fair use?"

The United States Copyright law of 1976 [17 USC § 107] says: "Notwithstanding the provisions of sections 106 and 106A [17 USC sects 106, 106A], the fair use of a copyrighted work, including such use by reproduction in copies or phonorecords or by any other means specified by that section, for purposes such as criticism, comment, news reporting, teaching (including multiple copies for classroom use), scholarship, or research, is not an infringement of copyright. In determining whether the use made of a work in any particular case is a fair use the factors to be considered shall include:

(1) the purpose and character of the use, including whether such use is of a commercial nature or is for non-profit educational purposes;
(2) the nature of the copyrighted work;
(3) the amount and substantiality of the portion used in relation to the copyrighted work as a whole; and
(4) the effect of the use upon the potential market for or value of the copyrighted work."

In compliance with the above regulations, it is believed that the usage at GT.com of a sound file excerpt(s), photos, text or graphics are strictly for non-profit educational purposes and intended to inform, illustrate and convey sound and visual perception with respect to a point(s) made in the text(s).

Regarding audio, the quality has purposely been reprocessed to a low sample and bit rate so as to discourage piracy, while also making the audio (media) files available for a limited time. Our use is therefore "fair use".
