Jeffrey Talbot was born in Aberavon, South Wales. He has sung over thirty operas in Great Britain and Europe and as far away as Singapore and Japan and the Middle East. He studied with the eminent Spanish tenor, the late Eduardo Asquez.
Highlights have included the British premiere of Haydn's "Armida", Donizetti's "Il Pigmalione" and the little known "Don Sanche", composed by Lizst at the age of twelve. He was also the first British tenor to be invited to sing at the Manuel Opera House in Malta, singing Alfredo in "La Traviata" and Pinkerton in "Madama Butterfly".
Concert tours have taken him all over the world and include a Command performance for the Thai Royal Family in Bangkok, "The Messiah" in Tokyo and a Gala Concert at the San Carlos, Lisbon for the President of Portugal.
At home he has performed in all the premier concert halls and has sung with many of the leading orchestras including The Halle, The Philharmonia, Bournemouth Symphony and Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestras.
His repertoire includes the Verdi Requiem, The Dream of Gerontius, Messiah, Beethoven's ninth symphony, Rossini's Petite Solonelle and the rarely sung Messa di Gloria by Puccini.
In Wales, he premiered the Lloyd Webber Requiem at St David's Hall, Cardiff, and performed the Verdi Requiem at the Brangwyn Hall, Swansea. With the Welsh Baritone, the late Sir Geraint Evans, he recorded four operatic programmes for the HTV network.
Previous recordings have included "Serenata", a selection of Neapolitan songs and the critically acclaimed "The Golden Tenor" for EMI.
Today, Jeffrey Talbot is a widely respected teacher of Voice in London and I am told that his lyric tenor voice remains intact and that he sings as tastefully and as beautifully as ever.
