Spanish tenor Jésus Lavid Bruguet was born
in Santander in the north of Spain in 1964, where he received
his musical education at the conservatories of Jesús
de Monasterio and Ataulfo Argenta. He moved to Madrid for
further studies and received tuition from the well-known
Spanish tenor Pedro Lavirgen, as well as from Francisco Ortiz.
He made his professional debut in Madrid in 1991 at the
Teatro Albéniz and shortly after he appeared in Caracas,
Venezuela.
Lavid has sung in a series of theaters throughout Spain
in roles such as Mario Cavaradossi (Tosca), Alfredo (La Traviata),
Pollione (Norma), Don José (Carmen), Turiddu (Cavalleria
Rusticana) and Canio (I Pagliacci), and has also participated
in the revivals of Breton's La Dolores and Bartlet's María
Adela. 1995 he reached the final in the International Singing
Competition Jaime Aragall. 1999 he participated in the recording
of Los Gavilanes by Jacinto Guerrero under conductor Enrique
Garcia Asensio and the Spanish Radio/TV Orchestra, for RTVE.
He is currently engaged by the ATAIR Lyrical foundation
in Spain.
