Andrea Cesare Coronella was born in Napoli on 9 May 1976. He studied at the academy of Maestro Arrigo Pola, then at the academies of Maestro Tito Turtura and Maestra Lucetta Bizzi. He further perfected his voice under Carlo Bergonzi at the Accademia Chigiana di Siena and at the Opera Studio del Verdi Festival at Parma's Teatro Regio, under Renato Scotto.

In March 2001 he won the international singing contest a the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale of Spoleto. An intense schedule of recitals and opera performances began, taking Coronella to a great deal of Italy's most prominent theatres: Teatro Regio di Parma, where he debuted as the Duke in Rigoletto, La Boheme in Sant Vincent, Teatro Comunale di Modena, Teatro Metastasio di Assisi, Teatro Comunale Morlacchi di Perugia, Teatro Magnani di Fidenza (Elvino in La Sonnambula), Teatro Storchi di Modena and the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale  "Adriano Belli" di Spoleto, the Teatro Caio Melisso di Spoleto, where he performed in the rare opera Il Mondo della Luna by Joseph Haydn, and in Piacenza, where he sang in Lucia di Lammermoor opposite Mariella Devia. He has also appeared outside Italy at the Teatro Municipal de Caracas (Venezuela), Teatro Teresa Carreña and the Fujiwara Company (Japan). In October 2002 he was invited to sing in Helsinki for the Finnish Beniamino Gigli Association and was awarded with the Prize of Promising Tenor by the asscociation. He will return in May 2004 with his wife, soprano Ivanna Speranza (b. 1977, Cordoba, Argentina), the last pupil of Arrigo Pola.

In November the same year he won the Tito Schipa Competition in Lecce, coming first of 150 participating tenors.

His repertory includes Elvino (La Sonnambula), Ernesto (Don Pasquale), Nemorino (L'Elisir d'Amore), Daniele Birman (Donizetti's Betly), Ecclitico (Il Mondo della Luna, Haydn), Tonio (La Fille du Regiment) and Edgardo (Lucia di Lammermoor). He has also performed in sacred worksby Mozart (Requiem), Rossini (Stabat Mater, Messe Solemnelle) and Mascagni (Messa di Gloria).

Coronella is predicted a bright future in opera for his brave upper register and overall easy and even production, leading some critics to compare him with the young Pavarotti. He will be seen in Tokyo in November (2003) for La Traviata.
